The Dependable Painting Company has been involved with two restoration projects for the Allen Theatre; the first in 1998 and the second in 2011. Playhouse Square’s Allen Theatre originally opened in April of 1921 as a silent movie house. This visually stunning theater was closed for 30 years before being restored back to its original Italian Renaissance design in 1998. In 2011, the theater was reconfigured to provide a more intimate setting and two more theaters were added in conjunction with the Cleveland Playhouse and Cleveland State University. Decorative painting techniques included gilding, glazing, stenciling, and a variety of other faux painting techniques.
