PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Holy Name Church was dedicated in May 1887. The Gothic styled church was ranked among the largest and interiorly finest churches in the Diocese of Cleveland. Over the years much of the architectural beauty was lost when the ceiling and walls were spray painted in a monolithic blue and white color scheme.
Dependable Painting was hired to help restore the Church back to its original grandeur. Exposure windows were used to reveal the original colors used over 100 years ago. Sample mock up sections were completed and approved, after which the Church was closed for several months for restoration. Our skilled painters used the following decorative techniques:
Decorative plaster elements were accent painted and highlighted using acrylic glazes.
Damaged sections of plaster ceiling were replaced and/or repaired.
Painted wooden oak wainscot was chemically stripped and restored.
Plaster columns were grained to match balcony and wainscot.
Sheets of gold leaf “Schaibin” used to highlight altar ceiling.
Gold leaf and gold mica paints used to help “finish detail” some of the finer plaster elements.
